We are Fred and Petra, your tour guides and travelling companions from Going Bush Tag-along Adventures.

Australia is such an amazing country with such a big variety of sights and terrain to discover. There is the spectacular scenery of the Flinders Ranges, its ruggedness and ever changing colours. The majestic Kimberley with its many gorges, waterfalls and beautiful birdlife. The green tropics of Cape York with numerous creek and river crossings along the Old Telegraph Line. Experience the remoteness and tranquillity of the Simpson Desert with it’s hundreds of sand hills, wildflowers and the amazing diversity of birdlife at the Coongie Lakes. Whatever it is that you desire, it is there for you to see, explore and enjoy.

Australia is still the lucky country, it is a country of many contrasts, it can be beautiful and rugged at the same time. It offers you many opportunities to explore and enjoy from the comfort of your own 4 wheel drive vehicle. We want to show you what this beautiful country has to offer. We can take you to your designated destination and return safely to your home. Our job is to take you there, to make your trip safe, enjoyable and above all memorable.

Your Guides

Fred was born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia with his family at a young age. He grew up in Adelaide and as a boy scout was immediately attracted to the outdoors, the space and the freedom.

The love for trees and timber influenced Fred’s occupation in becoming a carpenter, soon after running his own business in outdoor home additions. Fred purchased his first 4 wheel drive vehicle (a Suzuki 3 cylinder soft top) 30 years ago. Fred quickly discovered places beyond the capability of non four wheel drivers. The love of the Outback was born.

Petra was also born in the Netherlands. She grew up in Deventer; also much of her early life was spent camping with family and friends. Petra loved the uncomplicated lifestyle of camping and being at one with nature. When they met, Petra was very keen to visit this far away country that Fred was telling her so much about. The end result being the move down under to the land of Oz. That was three decades ago.

Petra was employed in the wine industry, gaining extensive experience, particularly in the export market. However she took advantage at every opportunity of holidays, long service and annual leave to discover our extraordinary land.

We have travelled extensively throughout Australia. We admire the Outback and respect the landscape. Going Bush is our passion. Having seen and experienced so much of this beautiful country we decided to start up Going Bush Tag-along Adventures so that we can share this passion with you and other like minded people.

Our services take you to your choice of destination, using your own well equipped 4 wheel drive vehicle and your own camping equipment. Our vehicle is set up with HF and UHF radio providing access to VKS737, Royal Flying Doctor Service, Selcall, Radtell and all the normal CB channels. We are both qualified First Aiders and carry a comprehensive First Aid kit on all trips. We hold the appropriate licences for all states and have all the necessary permits to travel the Outback.
